I’ve talked a lot about this song being about the many meanings of the word “home,” and how it doesn’t have to be a place.

Being abused as a kid has a way of removing your sense of home in your own body, or in the place you live. Perhaps this is why I have sought home elsewhere, though I do believe it’s universal that we all have songs, people, communities, we call home. Friends that make us cry with laughter, or offer words to ground us. Spots where we sit under the sun or stars, beneath trees or by the sea, that make our hearts sing.
